Police: Man Fatally Shot By Cops In West Oak Lane After Brandishing Gun

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man was fatally shot after he allegedly pointed a gun at Philadelphia police officers Friday.

The incident happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. in the 7900 block of Rugby Street in the city's West Oak Lane section.

According to investigators, police were responding to a domestic incident when another family member arrived at the scene.

The male allegedly exited his vehicle with a silver gun in his waistband. The male was ordered by officers to put his hands on the vehicle, but police say he did not comply.

Police say the male then pulled the gun from his waistband and that is when officers were forced to discharge their weapons. The male was struck in the chest and was later pronounced dead.

No officers were injured during the incident. The deadly incident remains under investigation.
