DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) – A Bucks County museum is set to unveil a new wing that will allow it to showcase collections from all over the world. And the new addition does more than just house artifacts.
The Mercer Museum, will open a $12.5-million state-of-the art building. The new addition will house a learning center, a visitors’ center and changing exhibition gallery.
Vice President of Collections and Interpretations, Corey Amsler says the new space will help the 95-year-old museum host new exhibitions, “This is an opportunity to showcase other collections, objects in storage, as well as bring in exhibitions from outside of the institution.”
An added bonus, Amsler says the new wing is environmentally friendly and saves energy. It has a specially paved parking lot, a rain garden and a green roof with growing vegetation.
The wing opens on June 18th. The first 100 people to arrive will get free admission.
