PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There’s a new way to help homeless animals, and yourself as well. The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society has introduced the PAWS Club.
Executive Director Melissa Levy says it’s a discount card. “We have over 100 businesses on board already, everyone from restaurants and spas, salons, boutiques, pet supply stores, pet services.”
It’s $50 for the rest of this year, $75 for this year and next. She says the money is another spoke in the wheel of fundraising in a race against time.
“As a no-kill organization, until we can move animals out of the spaces that we have we can’t bring new animals in,” said Levy.
And she says this is a time of year when animal surrenders and just plain abandonment go up. Go to phillypaws.org for more.
