DENNIS TWP., N.J. (CBS) — A historic church in Cape May County was destroyed by fire early Friday morning.

Authorities say flames broke out at about 3:30 a.m. at the South Seaville United Methodist Church on Corsons Tavern Road in Dennis Township.

It took firefighters approximately two hours to bring the blaze under control.

The 125 year old church was undergoing renovations at the time authorities say, and there were no working smoke detectors or alarms.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and authorities say no injuries were reported.
