Support For Cancer Patients

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Cancer can be a devastating disease but the more we learn about it the more we recognize the role of support.

There have been numerous studies on the subject but let's face it -- being positive and having support can't hurt the outcome. I can tell you first-hand that in basically all cases, there's nothing that makes patients feel better than realizing they're not alone through an illness, especially a life-threatening illness. It's important to know that there are other people who are survivors.

We often learn from those around us and there is no doubt that many valuable lessons can be learned from those in similar situations. Whether you have cancer or another serious medical condition, I recommend a support group.
