Rick Santorum Joins Race For Republican Presidential Nomination

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In Campaign 2012, a familiar name is back in the news.

Former two-term US senator Rick Santorum began his quest for the presidency in Somerset County, Pa. today, and it could be a tough ride.

Santorum, an arch-conservative, has traveled more times to Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina than any other Republican, but according to most polls he’s stuck in single digits.

Listen To Santorum’s announcement on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT …

That could change, but he’ll also have more company soon along the campaign trail.

Minnesota’s Michelle Bachmann may enter next week, and the buzz of the Republicans this week is that Herman Cain, who once ran Godfather Pizza, is inching up in the polls. Cain is an electric speaker, and a lot of people thought he won the first TV debate.

Locally, some GOP fundraisers are still holding out hope for New Jersey’s Chris Christie, but it looks like he’s going to wait for 2016 (see related story).

Santorum/Palin ticket would be awesome for the comedians! They are both trainwrecks!! He was crazier than a hoot owl when he was in the Senate, nobody introduced more bad legislation than him…He is a person who never gets things done, he just tells you who and what you should be afraid of!

  2. Francis Graff says:

I am sure he is thinking Governor of Pennsylvania or back to Congress as a Senator. And what better way to begin a bankroll of donations, than a Nation wide donor contribution for that rainy day. Rick, you really don’t stand a chance out there, so fess up, am I right? Twitter me, I won’t tell. No lewd pictures, ok!

  3. Milo says:

Santorum doesn’t have a frothy concoction’s chance in hell! :)

He sucked as a senator. Now he wants to be president ? Give me a break.
One question: Who is more of a dope: Palin or Santorum.

That, my friend, is a question w/ no real answer. Did you ever see the movie “War Games”? It’s kinda like the end of that…

  5. odie1022 says:

Republicans complain how awful Obama is, yet they haven’t shown anyone good enough to beat him. Santorum is the funniest one put forth yet. Thanks for the laughs, GOP.

      Re: AlexisMcGraw-I’ll vote for him.

It’s people like you, Alexis, that provide hope for a pathetic loser like Santorum. There is a VERY GOOD reason he lost his Senate seat.

  10. Too Funny says:

You couldn’t win in PA and now you want to win over a nation….yeah, right.
    Santorum is, as Santorum does.

  11. DutyFirst says:
