NEWPORT, Del. (AP) – New Castle County police say a man and woman have been found dead in a home in the Silview community near Newport.

Officers were sent to the home in the 100 block of Lindbergh Avenue to check on the welfare of one of the residents around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. A relative called 911 after he went to the home to pick up a family member, but no one answered there.

Officer John Weglarz Sr. says both the man and the woman were found with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He declined to identify the two pending notification of family.

While police are not saying yet how they believe the shootings occurred, Weglarz says there isn’t a threat to the community.
