SPCA: Dead Animal Found In Bridesburg Park Is Not A Dog

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Officials with the Pennsylvania SPCA now say it was not a dead dog found hanging from a tree in a park in Bridesburg Wednesday night.

Based on results of forensic tests, they now say the animal was a severely decomposed raccoon that was dead before being placed in the tree.  The carcass was found in the 56-hundred block of Tacony Street in Northeast Philadelphia (see related story).

Officials are continuing an investigation to try and determine if the animal’s death was the result of cruelty. At this point, no crime has been committed.
