Missing Lehigh Township Woman's Body Found In Lehigh River

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (CBS/AP) -- Authorities say a body found in the Lehigh River near Allentown is that of a woman missing who was last seen getting into her canoe to rescue her dogs.

Officials say a fisherman discovered the body 53-year-old Pamela Boyko on Sunday afternoon near the Allentown-Whitehall Township border.

Authorities had been searching for the Lehigh Township resident since Wednesday.

Boyko's family says she took the canoe out into the swollen river Wednesday evening to rescue her two dogs. They were later found alive. Her canoe has also been found.

The search had been hampered by storms and the resulting fast-moving, murky water.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday for determine an exact cause of death.
