NEW CASTLE, Del. (CBS) – A New Castle man died after falling off a bull during a rodeo event this weekend.
According to Delaware State Police, Leonel Trejo, 40, an experienced bull rider, was participating in the event at the Nur Temple located in the 100 block of S. DuPont Highway when he was thrown from the bull.
Police say Trejo was on the bull for about a minute when he was thrown off. The bull stepped on his chest causing serious injuries. Trejo was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Trejo was not wearing protective equipment at the time which police say is not required during Mexican bull riding events.
An autopsy will be performed to determine an exact cause of death and the incident remains under investigation.
