PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Seeing a tiny tree in a small pot at a nursery it’s hard to imagine what it will grow up to be. How big will it get? How bushy or branchy? Does it grow dense as a fence or will you still be able to see your neighbor’s garage through it?
It’s better to know before you buy what a plant will look like in years to come, and this Sunday at the Haverford Arboretum you can take a walking tour with staff experts who’ll share planting tips with you and point out grown up specimens of trees and shrubs you might want to plant in your yard. So, you can enjoy the Arboretum in early summer bloom while learning what to look for when you go plant shopping.
The one-hour walking tour is this Sunday, June 5th, at the Haverford College Arboretum on Lancaster Avenue in Haverford, PA. It’s free – all you have to do is be in front of the Whitehead Campus Center at 1:30 pm.
