The Kimmel Center Turns 10!

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Kimmel Center's tenth anniversary season has a decidedly Philadelphia flavor.

Matt Wolf, vice president of programming at the Kimmel Center, says it was decided that the performing arts center's tenth anniversary season should emphasize Philadelphia arts and culture, particularly its Jazz Up Close series.

"What we're doing this year, I think it's a really exciting program, that honors four of Philadelphia's jazz legends," adds Wolf. "Very exciting evening opens the series Saturday October 4th when Jimmy and Tootie Heath will be performing and being honored."

There's special performances and premieres by the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet, Philadanco and other Kimmel resident companies.

On March 20th, the Broadway smash musical FELA! appears at the Academy of Music. For more information, go to kimmelcenter.org.
