PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Organizers are hoping for a good turnout for the 7th annual 5K walk and run for ovarian cancer research and education.

The weather is expected to be ideal for the 7th in a series of walks and runs that have been held so far in Philadelphia this year for ovarian cancer research.

The 5K event got underway at 8:30 a.m. from the Please Touch Museum. Today’s event is designed to bring ovarian cancer research awareness to the forefront and help raise money for its research.

It is sponsored by the Teal Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. The money raised will be used for research and education.

Event organizers underscore the need for constant check-ups and early diagnosis. Money will also be used to improve the lives of survivors.
