Authorities Investigate Reports Of Explosion In Northeast Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating several reports of an explosion that took place a little before 10 p.m. Friday evening.

Fire officials and police responded to Fairdale and Knights roads in northeast Philadelphia after several residents claimed they heard and felt a loud explosion. Although no visible smoke or fire has been located, residents reported they felt their homes and streets shake. A number of those residents called Eyewitness News to find out what happened.

The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency reports that the incident does not appear to have been caused by an earthquake. Additionally, there are no reports of power outages or gas leaks at this time.

The situation was placed under control at about 10:45 p.m., but the investigation continues.

It’s the economy collapsing. Don’t worry, as soon as Obama downs another pint of Guiness, he’ll come back and take a look at it. I think Biden slept through it.

its still doing it, around 2:45 am and now 5:05 am i heard the ground shake in my basement sounds almost like a sledge hammer hitting cement and hearing it in the next house is the best i can describe it. so maybe it is an earthquake or tremors.

We felt it in Village Green – between Rt. 13 and Street Rd. in Bensalem. It shook the whole house! Then, out came the choppers…

Ok Doug. That clears it up. I thought it was Snooki farting.

  10. Joe Cat says:

Apparently, the explosion/shockwave/whatever reached the area around Franklin Mills as far as Morell Avenue, yet not as far as Street Rd. Police/Fire have given the all clear to local residents (myself one of them) yet no confirmation what the explosion/shockwave/whatever actually was as of the time of this comment.
