Pa. Gov. Corbett Released From Pittsburgh Hospital

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett is recovering at home after being released from a Pittsburgh hospital where he had successful surgery for a back problem.

Corbett was discharged Wednesday morning from Allegheny General Hospital, two days after his treatment for spinal stenosis. That's a narrowing of the spinal canal that can cause pain and reduce activity.

His office says 61-year-old Republican will work from home in the Pittsburgh suburbs and should be back in Harrisburg in a few days.

Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley served for a few hours as acting governor while Corbett went under the knife.
