PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers have signed Finnish goaltender Niko Hovinen to an entry-level contract.

The 23-year-old Hovinen checks in at 6’7″ tall and he played this past season for Lahti of the Finnish Elite League.  In 49 appearances he went 17-25-5, compiling a 2.59 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage and three shutouts.

Hovinen was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fifth round of the 2006 NHL Draft, but he never signed with the club.
