BLOG: A Classic Winter For Philadelphia

So how great would it be to have the Winter Classic here in Philly?
Nothing has been finalized, but published reports say it's going to happen and it's going to happen at Citizens Bank Park against the Rangers January 2nd.
But why January 2nd instead of the traditional New Years day? Is it because the NHL does not want to compete against New Years Day NFL games? There should be a big one... (If there is football at Lincoln Financial Field at all this season) the Eagles are currently scheduled take on the Redskins.
I can just see it now... Fireworks , Mummers, Football, and Hockey... Wouldn't it be great, a Happy New Year indeed!
