PHLADELPHIA (CBS) – Tips from the public helped police to identify the man who stole a disability check from a disabled Philadelphia marine veteran.

Just days before Christmas, police say Jonathan Gerance used a counterfeit driver's license to open a bank account in the Sergeant's name at the Bank of America on Street Road in Bensalem, and deposited the disability check worth $44,000. (see related story)

Over the course of six days, police say Gerance withdrew $22,000 from the account.
