Families Head To Philadelphia Nursing Home For Mother's Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Some local moms stayed in their nursing homes due to illness this Mother's Day.

Kate Scholl, 97, lives at Simpson House in Fairmount Park. Even though she isn't in the best health these days, she says she looks forward to Mother's Day because she will be seeing her family.

"My daughter Jackie, she'll be here and the others.

"What's your favorite thing about Mother's Day," asked KYW reporter Cherri Gregg.

"The little ones," Scholl replied.

Seventy-two-year-old Miss Lilly is a mother of five children. She moved into Simpson House three months ago.

"I'm happy because my children are very special to me. I have a little grandson that I am anxious to see."

Miss Lilly has this bit of advice about Mother's Day.

"You don't have to be a mom I feel. All children are special and you can be a mom to anybody."
