MEDIA, Pa. (CBS) - A public arboretum in Delaware County is celebrating National Public Gardens Day, which is today, with two days of events.
Public Gardens Day is dedicated to building awareness of and support for the nation’s public gardens.
At Tyler Arboretum in Media, parents with kids in tow and couples lined up in the visitors’ center to enjoy garden tours, interactive programs, and exhibits.
Joanne McGeoch, Tyler’s development manager (right), points out that Tyler does not receive government money, so it’s important for the public to support it.
“Just to preserve the space so that it stays 650 acres of preserved land. It’s such a gem,” she says.
Susan (no last name given) of Malvern and her friend Cookie, from West Chester, thought it was a good idea to come out.
“We were looking for something to do,” Susan said. “Something different,” added Cookie.
Tyler is also holding special programs on Saturday, from 10:30am to 2pm.
