Man Found Dead After SWAT Incident In Gloucester County

PITMAN, N.J. (CBS) – A man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after a standoff with police inside a Gloucester County home early Thursday morning.

The incident started at about 6 a.m. after the report of a gunshot from inside a home in the 100 block of East Holly Avenue in Pitman, New Jersey.

Police were called to the scene after receiving a phone call from a female companion of the unidentified man stating that she heard a gunshot fired inside the residence.

After neighboring homes were evacuated, members of the SWAT team entered the home and found the man deceased. A weapon was on the floor near where he was found.

As a result of the situation, the Pitman Middle School was closed as a precaution.

Sorry, Debra. It appears the posts to which I was commenting on earlier this morning were removed. Some guy was saying it was probably black or PR people involved (just because it was Pitman). I was replying to his post (the fact that he shouldn’t paint this w/a broad brush). In retrospect of how this turned out, regardless of the guy’s race, it’s a very sad conculsion.
