Car Crashes Into SEPTA Trolley In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A driver was taken to the hospital after crashing into a SEPTA trolley early Wednesday morning.

The accident happened shortly after midnight at 39th Street and Lancaster Avenue in West Philadelphia.

According to police, the car was driving in the trolley lane when the driver side-swiped an oncoming trolley.

The driver was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with neck and back pain.

The driver's car suffered serious damage, while the trolley only sustained minor damage. It was not immediately known if anyone on the trolley was injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
