Mopeds Provide Tourists And Residents Another Option To Tour Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - You may have seen them while travelling in Center city -- people whizzing by on Mopeds and two-seater scooters. These vehicles are rented by residents and tourists alike who want to see the city in an up close and personal way.

Josh Silverman of Philly Moped Rentals explains why these vehicles are so hot right now.

"Probably the best way to tour the city," he boasts. "You have no roof... everything's open, you tour at your own pace."

Albert Lee, a communications and social media manager at the Independence Visitors Center couldn't agree more.

"It's really exciting to be a visitor in Philadelphia at this time because you have all these unlimited options. You can see Philadelphia from bicycle, from segway, of course, you can do the old-fashioned walking, you can hop on the Flash or take a double-decker bus tour."

Lee isn't surprised people would choose the scooters. He says they give visitors the chance to slow down and see some of Philly's greatest sites including the Betsy Ross House at eye level.
