Woman Hosting Fundraiser For Ovarian Cancer Patients At Union League in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A local woman who survived ovarian cancer is helping others beat the difficult disease.

Melanie Finley is hosting high tea at the Union League on May 7th. It’s a fundraiser for the Melanie Finley ovarian cancer foundation.

“I started the foundation because I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 27. Thankfully, I’m now in remission.”

She’s on a mission to help women get through this disease.

“The money goes to women who are being treated for ovarian cancer.”

Finley says ovarian cancer doesn’t discriminate; it afflicts women of all ages from various backgrounds.

“We receive applications from women on a daily basis who need help with their financial bills.”
