BLOG: Free Financial Ed Program For Women

By Jim Donovan: FinanciallyHers, a free financial education program geared towards women is being offered in Bala Cynwyd on five consecutive Tuesday evenings starting April 26. The series of practical, interactive workshops, covers topics on budgeting, savings, credit and more.

FinanciallyHers was developed by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of the Delaware Valley, a non-profit agency providing one-on-one counseling and financial education programs to the area for the past 45 years. The Citi Foundation has supported the women's program since its launch in 2008. This five-week long series is being offered at Citibank's branch in Bala Cynwyd on Presidential Boulevard.

"These workshops are designed to foster open and honest communication and to provide real life solutions. We specifically conduct workshops in different community locations to ensure that women can take advantage of them in their own neighborhoods," says Joy McManus, Program Manager of the FinanciallyHersProgram.

By meeting over several weeks, the program provides consistent encouragement that helps participants stay on track with their goals. Women are encouraged to attend all five classes, however due to busy schedules, woman will benefit from even attending only one workshop.
