What Americans Think Of The Royal Wedding

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Next Friday, the world watches the British royal wedding. And one political watcher says Americans will be watching carefully.

While about 75 percent of American women plan to tune into the wedding it appears only half of men in the U.S., as well as 45 percent of those under the age of 30, are paying zero attention to the wedding.

America's views on the wedding are unusual. 48 percent say Kate Middleton shouldn't take a job after the wedding. But 53 percent of the British think she should go to work.

By a wide margin, Americans want William to be the next king not his Dad Charles. And a woman who is not with us anymore gets the highest approval rating.
The late Princess Diana gets a 75 percent approval rating from Americans while 66 percent of the British public approve of her.

The poll also shows that Americans by a wide margin would not favor a monarchy here.
