NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – The Newark Police Department arrested a suspect in connection to the robbery of a convenience store last month.
Thomas Bartley Jr. is facing charges for his alleged role in the robbery of the Elkton Road 7-Eleven on March 10 in Newark, Delaware.
According to investigators, Bartley entered the store at about 11 p.m. that night and walked down one of the aisles of the store. He then grabbed an item off the shelf and walked towards the register area.
As the clerk told Bartley the price for the item, police say he demanded money from the register and implied that he had a gun, although one was not displayed.
The clerk handed him an undisclosed amount of cash and he then fled out of the store.
On Tuesday, a Newark police officer recognized Bartley as a wanted person and he was taken into custody without incident.
Bartley has been charged with one count of Robbery 1st Degree. He is being held at the Howard Young Correctional in lieu of $10,000 secured bail.
