Temple dental student Rob Homayoon is just one of many who have sponsored youtube channels.
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Youtube is increasingly becoming a website where the price of admission to someone’s video is watching an ad.
If you visit to the Youtube channel Rob’s World for a Temple dental student talking about origami or Rubik’s Cube you’ll first be greeted by an ad.
Temple advertising professor Keith Quesenberry says this is the way of the future.
“As a person who’s uploading your video, you’re sort of giving those rights away. If you create your own channel, then you can sell your own space. If you think about it, how many commercials do you see per hour on cable? This is usually just one ad that you have to wait through ’til you get to the content that you want to see.”
Quesenberry, who also works for a Harrisburg ad agency, says web ads, while not the key to getting noticed, they are definitely part of the solution.
