Friendly Scuffle Ends With Boy Suffering Gunshot Wound In Mantua

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police say a friendly scuffle among two adolescents resulted in gunfire and one of the boys being hospitalized.

The two were playing in an empty lot along Brown Street in Mantua around 8 p.m. Sunday. Police say the boys, ages 14 and 12, were involved in what detectives described as friendly horseplay when a handgun they had discharged.

The 12-year-old ran inside his home reporting he had been shot and he was rushed to Children’s Hospital where he’s listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators have not determined where the gun came from, and the incident remains under investigation. Charges were not immediately filed.

    Yeah, this happens to me all the time when I engage in “friendly horseplay” with friends. GOOD GRIEF. Where are the parents? Twelve-year-olds should not be toting guns, obviously
