Elderly Man Injured After Assault In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware are searching for a suspect who assaulted and injured an elderly man as he walked to a store Sunday evening.

The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. on S. Maryland Avenue and Broom Street in Wilmington.

According to police, the 73-year-old victim was walking down Maryland Avenue when he passed a group of young males. Shortly after, the man was suddenly struck with an unknown object from behind in the head by one of the suspects.

The victim, who suffered a laceration to the head, then fell to the ground.

Police say the group of males then fled the scene.

The victim was taken to the Wilmington Hospital where he was treated for his injury.

    I just want to say the this has truly gotten out of hand. These young want to be thugs, can’t even face thier victim face to face. That shows me that they are a bunch of scared little punks. Why do you young think that this workd and the people in it owe you something. Wake up! No one owes you anything. But you for to take and violate someone for your own amusement is down right ignorant. What you youngsters need to do is to go back to school and learn something. Try being a productive menber of society instead of being a menance to society.
