Cherry Hill District Employee Arrested For Sexual Assault, Child Pornography

VOORHEES, N.J. (CBS) -- The Camden County prosecutors office has announced the arrest of Cherry Hill school district employee in connection with a sexual assault on an underage Voorhees girl.

Paul Theisen, 23, of the 900 block of Northwood Avenue in Cherry Hill, has been charged with Sexual Assault and Possession of Child Pornography among related charges.

Police say Theisen, who has worked as a monitor for before and after school programs at the Clara Barton School and James H. Johnson Elementary School in Cherry Hill, and was a camp counselor at Tall Pines Day Care in Monroe, was babysitting the 5-year-old victim at her home Saturday night when he inappropriately touched her.

The girl reported the incident to her parents who immediately contact police.

During a search of Theisen's home, police found numerous images of child pornography.

In the wake of this arrest, Cherry Hill Superintendent David Campbell sent a letter to parents that reads in part:

"The district was notified of the arrest today and the employee was immediately suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. He had been assigned this year to Barton (AM), Johnson (PM), and Sharp Elementary Schools (AM). He worked in the SACC program at Barton (AM) and Johnson (PM) in 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, at Paine (PM) in 2007-2008, and at Kilmer (PM) in 2006-2007. On occasion, the employee also subbed in the Extended Day Childcare Programs at Barclay (AM), Woodcrest (PM), and Cooper (PM). At this point in the investigation, there is no indication, nor any allegation, of inappropriate behavior involving Cherry Hill students."

Police say anyone with information on other potentially criminal behavior involving children committed by Paul Theisen or anyone else should contact the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 225-8400.
