School Bus Driver Pleads Guilty In Deadly 2010 Crash In Montco

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - A Schwenksville, Pa. man who prosecutors say was sleep-deprived and distracted when he caused a deadly crash while driving a school bus last year has admitted his guilt in Montgomery County Court.

Frederick Poust III (at right in photo) has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment charges in connection with last February's crash outside Perkiomen Valley Middle School West.

Poust, 39, was driving a bus with 45 kids on it when he pulled in front an oncoming car, killing Richard "Trip" Taylor, 27, the front seat passenger.

Shirley Johnson, Taylor's mother (at left in photo), wants Poust to serve jail time.

"I know that I have to somehow or other find it in my heart to be forgiving also, so I hope that helps my healing process.  Right now I don't know when that's going start 'cause I'm still very, very hurt," she told KYW Newsradio this morning.

On-board surveillance video showed Poust running several stop signs, talking on a cell phone, and listening to music before the crash.

More than a decade ago he caused a crash in Bucks County that killed a two-year-old girl. He ran a stop sign while dialing a cell phone.

Reported by Brad Segall, KYW Newsradio 1060.
