PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Phillies center fielder Shane Victorino left Saturday’s game against Houston with soreness in his left calf.
There was no immediate word on the extent of the injury. It’s unknown when Victorino got hurt. He landed awkwardly on a diving attempt trying to avoid a collision with right fielder Ben Francisco on a ball hit by Carlos Lee in the fourth inning.
Victorino stayed in the game and hit a two-run single in the bottom half, but was removed for a pinch-hitter in the fifth.
The Phillies already are missing second baseman Chase Utley, outfielder Domonic Brown and closer Brad Lidge.
