PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Some local residents with a British connection are planning to celebrate the royal wedding in style.
The British Officer’s club of Philadelphia was founded in 1919 after World War I by British commonwealth and American officers who had served with or alongside British Military units, and they are particularly excited that Prince William — a British Officer — is taking the plunge into the pool of holy matrimony.
Spokesperson and former British Officer Julian Hutton says he has great respect for William and his family.
“It’s not just another British royal getting married, but it’s the military connection.”
Hutton’s club is planning a celebration at the Merion Cricket Club fit for a King and you are invited.
“A number of extremely intrepid people are going to be getting up to watch this thing televised live from London at 5 a.m. in the morning, but we will be fortified by champagne and a large breakfast.”
If you’d like to mingle with the crowd, tickets are still available. If you’re interested send an e-mail to bocphil@gmail.com to receive an invitation with a RSVP card.
