BLOG: Jetta Horn Could Turn Off Cars

If you own a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, you may want to hold off on honking the horn any time soon. In one of the more bizarre recalls I've ever heard of, Volkswagen is recalling 71,000 Jettas because a wiring issue could cause the car to turn off if the horn is used!

The problem seems to involve the ant-theft alarm system, horn and a fault with the wiring layout. In some cases if a fuse blows, like the one that controls the horn, it can lead to a short circuit which could shut off power to the engine.

This recall involves 2011 model year Jettas manufactured from March 2010 through March 2011. According to Volkswagen, no related accidents or injuries have been reported. Pending the availability of parts, the manufacturer says repairs could begin in May
