5 Injured After Police Chase Ends In Crash Near Wildwood

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – Five people were injured after a police chase ended with a crash in Cape May County Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, the chase began in Wildwood at about 10:30 a.m. The chase eventually ended when the suspect crashed into a glass company truck and a bus shelter on Route 47 in Middle Township.

Police say the suspect fled on foot after crashing his car, but he was later taken into custody near the Four Seasons Diner.

Five people were taken to area hospitals, including one man who suffered serious leg injuries.

It was not immediately known why police were chasing the suspect in the first place.

The incident remains under police investigation.
