No Joke, Kutztown Fools' Run Coming This Weekend

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - No fooling, runners from around the region will converge on the community of Kutztown for a big event this Saturday, April 2nd.

It is called the Kutztown Fools' Run and generally falls right around April Fools' Day.

Jason Feiertag, a spokesman for the event which is sponsored by the Kutztown Optimist Club, says it drew around 700 entrants last year. He is expecting a similar turnout based on the pace of registrations.

"We pull people from the Philadelphia area. We have people from out-of-state. I think we probably had half a dozen different states represented in the race," Feiertag said. "It's amazing where they come from."

So, what is the run's attraction? Feiertag says it is the course for both the 10-mile-run and 5-K run.

"The challenge of some of the hills that Berks County represents. It's also a great scenery, you're running through country areas and it always adds to it," Feiertag said.
