GREENVILLE, Del. (CBS) – A severe car accident in New Castle County claimed the life of a Wilmington man and injured a woman early Sunday morning.
The incident happened at about 2 a.m. on Kennett Pike near Brook Valley Road in Greenville.
Police say an unidentified 22-year-old man was speeding southbound on Kennett Pike when he failed to see a curve in the roadway. His 2003 Infiniti G35 swerved onto the right shoulder and then veered back to the left where it struck the center median and a road sign.
The vehicle became airborne and overturned on its roof after striking another metal pole.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 23-year-old unidentified female passenger was also taken to the same hospital in serious condition.
This crash remains under investigation at this time. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
