Cherry Hill Searches For Funding To Build 9-11 Memorial
CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) - Cherry Hill Township has plans to create a memorial to the 9-11 attacks by their 10th anniversary and you're invited to help.
The Cherry Hill memorial will be at the township's new Central Command fire station on Marlkress Road, just off Route 70. Mayor Bernie Platt describes it.
"This site will be home to two gleaming granite towers, linked together by a single piece of steel, an actual section of I-beam from World Trade Center's North Tower."
The memorial plot, about 30 by 35 feet, will also contain other reminders of the victims and heroes of the terrorist attacks. What it doesn't have yet is funding.
Mayor Platt put in $1,000 toward the $60,000 cost and there's a website for those who want to help make this dream real.
