Montco Veterinarian Charged With Murdering Pregnant Girlfriend In Lehigh County

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (CBS) - A married veterinarian from Upper Gwynedd (Montgomery County), Pa. is being held without bail in Lehigh County Prison, charged today with the murder of his girlfriend and her unborn fetus.

Pennsylvania state police in Bethlehem say 30-year-old David Rapoport (above), of the 1200 block of Browning Court in Upper Gwynedd, was taken into custody this morning outside his father's home in Lafayette Hill (Montgomery County).

Investigators say Rapoport is charged with the murder of Jennifer Snyder, 27 (right), a veterinary technician from Lower Macungie (Lehigh County) as well as the death of her fetus, which was described in the criminal complaint as male and about 10-12 weeks old.

Authorities say an autopsy showed the woman died of three gunshot wounds.  Her body was found last Friday in a blanket and plastic sheet wrapped with duct tape, in a wooded area of North Whitehall Township in Lehigh County.

Pennsylvania state trooper William Griffith says evidence recovered from the woman's car, found nearby, tied Rapoport to the crime.

"Discharged cartridge casings found inside the victim's vehicle and recovered at the Game Preserve Road scene had been discharged by the 9-millimeter Glock Model 17 owned by David Rapoport."

Rapoport worked for Harleysville Veterinary Hospital.
