Overuse Injuries

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - You know the phrase, "everything in moderation?" Well, that phrase is very true.

One of the areas where this gets tricky is when you think of endurance athletes. Clearly they are doing something great for their cardiovascular system by working out, but at the same time they are adding stress as well.

Endurance athletes are definitely going beyond moderation and there are concerns. For instance, you are more likely to have overuse injuries; things like tendonitis, patellofemoral pain syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and stress fractures. You get the idea. A lot of wear and tear.

Many of these issues can be treated by rest, or necessary rehab can help you out as well, but you need to make sure you train right and go over it with your physician. It's essential.
