'Positively Philadelphia:' Travel Writers Entranced By Our Magical City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's always interesting to find out what people from out of town think of Philadelphia -- especially travel writers, who check out cities around the world.

"Great city, wonderful city."

"First time here, won't be my last."

Most of these writers were from our neighbor up north, Canada.

"For us in Toronto, it's not that far.  By air, it's an hour.  I've driven it before, and it's a wonderful drive because you can drive along the Delaware River and relive history."

"Just a really fun, laid back, lovely atmosphere, and everybody is so friendly and so kind."

She said we were kind!  Something to remember when you've got an out-of-town driver in front of you who doesn't quite know where they're going.

Some of this group's favorites?

"I love Longwood Gardens."

"Going to the Barnes Museum; I think there's so much to do here.  I'd love to encourage more people to come."

"Today I spent some time at the Reading Market, hanging out with the locals, people grabbing goodies from the market and just sitting in the sunshine."

" I wasn't that impressed with Philadelphia my first visit.  I found it kind of dirty, a little scuzzy.  Somehow this city has magically resurrected itself into such a cool place."

Their host was the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation.

"This is my first time.  I love it.  I would like to come back here, yes.  Why not next year?"

That's Positively Philadelphia!
