The luck of the Irish was with us today as temperatures climbed into the mid 60s with lots of sunshine. In fact, today was one of the mildest St. Patrick’s Days in recorded history. The high temperature of 64 degrees was only reached 19 times, on this date, since records began in the late 1800s. If you were curious, the warmest St. Pattys day ever was 86 degrees and the whitest was on March 17, 1892 when Philadelphia received over 3 inches of snow. That is a lot of statistics for one day but here are a couple more. The coldest temperature ever recorded on today’s date was a bitter 10 degrees and the wettest was in 1993 when 1.04 inches of rain fell.
Temperatures in Shannon and Dublin, Ireland today didn’t climb out of the 40s but they must have sent a lucky leprechaun our way because temperatures in Philadelphia tomorrow will be in the 70s!
