St. Patrick’s Day Parade Mass Held In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Cardinal Justin Rigali presided over the traditional St. Patrick’s Parade mass. The tradition of parade mass goes back to 1771.

Cardinal Rigali presided over the St. Patrick’s Parade mass and he emphasized the many contributions of St. Patrick to the Irish people and the world.

Sister James Anne was in attendance at the annual mass. She has the distinction of being this year’s parade Grand Marshal as she’s honored for her 50 years of service to the church, the sisterhood, and the Irish people.

The mass was said at St. Patrick’s Church at 20th and Locust Streets.
