Analysis: The GOP In 2012

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's less than nine months from the first primary and the Republican race for president is wide open.

There are at least 12 Republicans who may run and longtime GOP operative Charlie Gerrow says that time is now an issue.

"This is going to be an uphill battle despite the fact that the Barack Obama Administration has given Republicans all across the country great reason to be hopeful about 2012. We're still late getting on track. Barack Obama is going to have a billion dollar campaign war chest and he's got the voter group support that is going to come back to him. Republicans have got to get charged up."

The consensus - Mitt Romney the establishment GOP candidate, New Gingrich pulling up on the outside; wild cards Tim Pawlenty, Sarah Palin, Haley Barber; super wildcard long shots, Chris Christie and Donald Trump.
