PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A local cancer center has come up with a unique food labeling system to make it easier to eat healthy.
Food in the cafeteria at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Juniata is adorned with traffic light colored labels according to dietician, Nicole Kemp.
“Either red meaning it’s a high calorie food it doesn’t have a lot of nutrition, yellow means slow down it does have some nutritional benefit but it’s processed and you don’t want to go overboard and then we have the green foods which is a go. It’s very high in nutrition, lots of vitamins, nutrients and also lean protein.”
She says the system makes it easier for patients and their families to make healthy choices and cut down on the splurges.
