Southeastern Pennsylvania Red Cross Collecting For Japan Earthquake And Tsunami Disaster Relief

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The local chapter of the American Red Cross is collecting funds to assist with disaster relief for victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan and the Pacific Rim.

Those who want to help can go to www.redcrossphilly.org and click on the “Donate” tab to donate online.  There is a section specifically listing Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami.

Or people can make a $10 donation by texting “REDCROSS” (all one word) to 90999.  Gifts to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and the tsunami throughout the Pacific.

The American Red Cross is only accepting financial contributions at this time.

And as of now, no personnel from the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Red Cross were being sent to the disaster area.

I agree unfortunately. This concern about the majority of $$ donated going to administrative costs ( as revealed with many other donation efforts) is what leaves me with a feeling of hopelessness.

  3. concerned says:

Oh Cool. So the victims can get 10% of what the intended donation was supposed to be!
