  • More than 50,000 people will die from Colorectal Cancer this year.
  • It is the second leading cause of cancer deaths and often has no symptoms.
  • Early detection is so important. A colorectal cancer screening can reduce a person's risk of death by 90-percent.
  • Anyone age 50 or older should get screened. If they have certain risk factors, they may need to get screened earlier.
  • There is no need to be afraid of getting a colonoscopy. It is not as scary as you think and it is such an important test for detecting colorectal cancer in its earliest stages.
  • Talk to your doctor about getting screened.

Dr. David Stein, Chief of Colorectal Surgery at Drexel Medicine/Hahnemann University Hospital, talks about colorectal cancer and the importance of screening on CBS 3's Talk Philly.
