Little Treasures At The Flower Show

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Many magnificent exhibits at the Flower Show involve tons of soil and stone, a big team, and plenty of shovels. But some of my favorite celebrations of the beauty of plants are found in artistic treasures put together with much tinier tools - such as tweezers.

The artwork of Pressed Plants is easily overlooked, it doesn't call attention to itself the way a giant replica of the Eiffel Tower or the Catacombs do. But it's worth it to seek out these treasures to see what local artists have created with only leaves, flowers, petals, stems and seeds.

From a few feet away, many look like photographs, others seem to be paintings. Look closer and you'll see what a great eye for design, detail and an immense amount of patience can produce. Because they're made of natural materials, who knows how long they'll endure, but the fact that they're ephemeral makes them even more special.
