BLOG: March 3rd Weather Outlook

By Kate Bilo

Baby, it's COLD outside!

March is a month that's often characterized by a Battle Royale between cold and warm, dry and moist, winter and spring. This leads to frequent bouts of rain, the threat for snow, and also, of course, noticeable day-to-day temperature swings. We've certainly felt that this week!

We started off the month of March in a seasonable way, with temperatures right around normal, if not a few degrees above. The second day of the month was a warm one, with highs approaching 60... but a cold front swept through in the afternoon and changed all that.

And here we are, on the third day of the month, which is featuring noontime temperatures still in the sub-freezing range! It's winter's clear reminder that "it ain't over til the fat lady sings!". The good news is that the dry weather continues, giving us ample time to dry out the ground from last week's heavy rain. This will come in handy when our next round of rain approaches this weekend.

Tomorrow will be a decent finish to the work week. There will be a few more clouds in the sky but temperatures should recover and rise close to normal in the afternoon, with a high of 46. We'll see the clouds try to hang around Saturday, but I think there will be at least a little sunshine early in the day Saturday, and with temperatures in the upper 50's, it'll be a nice start to the weekend. But how quickly things can change on a whim here in the month of March - Saturday night brings rain and the rain will continue through Sunday. Monday will clear out and cool off, and things look quiet next Tuesday before another rain threat emerges midweek.
